175 000 new jobs announced in NSW

At the New South Wales Job Summit today Nathan Rees announced that the NSW Government will be creating 175 000 new traineeship positions in the next four years. The traineeships will span positions as diverse as childcarers, electricians, carpenters and butchers.

This is very exciting after days and days of bad news only.

The jobs summit could not have come at a better time to ally employee fears. Held in Sydney both today and tomorrow, it is being chaired by Mr Rees and features 250 delegates from key industry and employment sectors. Prior to the summit Mr Rees hoped that the event would help the state to devise a plan to help NSW survive the current economic downturn.

So far, these traineeship plans will help to ensure that jobs and businesses are sustained, and they will certainly be welcomed by future trainees and their employers.
