It doesn’t take a clairvoyant to realise that most people don’t like SPAM. It is a common problem that plagues email recipients everywhere. If you log into an account with any of the major free servers it is only a matter of time before spam emails start filtering through. A common solution is raising the security filter on the email account which should send those unwanted emails hurtling down the cyber gurgler into a junk mail folder which you don’t have to worry about. Although of course there can be a problem when the security filters are set too high and emails which are relevant and from known contacts start filtering through to the junk mail folder which you aren’t supposed to have to look through. What could be more annoying?
News this week was that the largest spam gang in the world has been caught by authorities and had their assets seized. Even so the anticipated level of spam is not expected to decrease by much. I think the spam factor is one of the reasons why social and business networking sites have become more popular. There is something comforting about knowing the other people on your business networking site of choice have a real profile, real name and are there for the same reason you are, to network. Thankfully spammers have not yet regularly gone to the effort of creating fake profiles in order to spam people. Even more fortunately if that were to happen business networking sites have people on hand to monitor such problems and deal with them swiftly.
This leaves more time for networkers to filter through the messages they have relating to business opportunities, job offers and upcoming events rather than sorting through junk about weight loss pills and enlargements to bodily appendages.
