More Aussie apprenticeships announced

Following the trend of recent weeks, there has been more good news for apprentices within the Australian job market. Amidst fears that the economic downturn will severely restrict the amount of new apprentices or trainees entering trades, the QLD government has restructured an already existing training scheme so that it will include the hiring of thousands of new apprentices.
The plan states that ten percent of all workers hired to undertake state government infrastructure projects will be apprentices. The capital works program for the next year is worth $14.7 billion, a figure that will now cover over two thousand apprentice positions.
The number of apprentices and trainees has grown in Queensland by 25% in the last three years, compared to 7% nationally. As the premier, Anna Bligh, has said, “Less than 12 months ago we were tackling a serious skills shortage and we need to plan for when the good times return.” This positive thinking will certainly benefit those young people hoping to enter a trade in QLD. Good luck to them.
Signing off,
Louise.
