Networking Tips: #21-25
At a networking event, give yourself time to mingle. Real conversations are vital yet you also need to know when to give out your business card and move on to the next person. Make sure you are sincere and professional, and when given someone else’s business card take a few moments to read it carefully. This may give you more ideas on what to talk about.
21. Use the other person’s name in conversation
22. If you make an important contact, make sure to contact them by phone or email within 48 hours
23. Collect other people’s business cards. This could be the start of your contact list.
24. If you are joining a new networking group, seek out the person in charge and introduce yourself. This will allow them to know you are a new member and further introduce you.
25. Get details of a number of places you can network. Don’t make your presence felt in one place only.
There are a number of networking organisations that you can find online. Some have a free membership, others require a yearly fee. These organisations promote business networking opportunities around Australia. All you need to do is find something you are interested in and register.
