Teens & Communicating
It’s unfortunate that so many social networking sites get a bad review when a tragedy strikes. I’m referring to teenage suicides and the apparent “glamorizing of death” that I recently read about. It’s so terrible to hear of any death or suicide, especially when it involves young teens. I think it’s extremely important to communicate effectively with our children and monitor what they are doing on the net. And it’s not just the networking sites that need to be monitored, it’s texting and emails too.
It does also bring into question how adults communicate with each other. Business networking, social networking, email and texting are all part of our everyday lives. We’re more efficient, more streamlined, more organised, more skilled…. but now and then make sure you pick up the phone to talk not just text! It’s one skill we can’t afford to lose.
