Your “2 minute pitch”…

Some call it the ‘elevator’ pitch, however we call it the ‘2 minute pitch’ because this is generally the amount of time you have at a speed networking event to introduce yourself.
When you plan your ‘pitch’ and put it into practice, you will find networking a breeze and lots of fun. The objective is to convey what you and your business offer and why others would do business with you.
Write down a few points about yourself, then write a few points about your business. Are there some key differences between your product/business and a competitors? What do you and your company pride yourself on? These are the things that make an interesting pitch.
Here are a few points to get your started:
- What makes your product/business better than your competitors?
- Do you have the best customer service team in your industry?
- Do you offer faster delivery than your competitor?
- What are your company values?
- What are the things that your current customers love about your product/business?
Once you have written down a few ideas, you will need to put it together and be able to say it all within 2 minutes!
- Your name, your title, your company name
- Briefly descibe your product/business
- What are the ‘stand out’ features?
- What do your customers love about your product/business?
- What makes you & your business a great networking contact to have?
One of the great things about networking events is that you collect business cards with the details of everyone you have met. So if you cannot say it all within 2 minutes, you can arrange to call them or get together again to talk more business.
The idea behind the ‘2 minute pitch’ is to give the person you meet enough information about yourself and your company to form a business connection upon which you can build.
